Real Property Management Express’ Story

Real Property Management Express, a third-party property management company, has been dedicated to making real estate investment easy and profitable through exceptional asset management. The company’s mission is to help residents love where they live and to ensure that owners and investors find it easy to invest in real estate and generate cash flow over time.

The Challenges

When Maddie Todd joined Real Property Management Express as an intern in 2020, she was eager to learn every aspect of the business. She worked in various roles from coordinating maintenance to leasing, which provided her with an in-depth understanding of the company’s diverse operations. Despite this, RPM faced a challenge: their processes were inconsistent, leading to inefficiencies and high employee turnover.

Maddie noticed that the company operated like five different organizations working together rather than a well-oiled machine. As the company aimed to scale, the lack of standardized processes became an obstacle.

The Solution

The turning point came when Maddie and the CEO, Josh, decided to implement SYSTEMology and systemHUB. Maddie, driven by an interest in standardizing business processes, took the lead. They began documenting their processes using tools like Asana and creating Loom videos, then consolidated these into systemHUB.

Maddie shared, “Initially, there was resistance from the team. But by explaining the long-term benefits and incorporating the processes into our task management system, adoption rates increased.” The emphasis on property management systems helped streamline their operations. For instance, they transitioned from having six different ways of processing applications to a single, unified method. This change not only improved employee efficiency but also enhanced the customer experience.

Becoming the Systems Champion, Maddie exemplified how attention to detail and a passion for technology can drive significant improvements. Regular input from leadership, particularly from the CEO, played a crucial role in this transformation. Maddie commented, “Find that key person and invest your time into them. It’s worth it because they will come out truly believing in the mission and goals.”
